4.1 Compensation and Benefit In-put Protocols:
· Enlarge the Committee: Currently we have two representatives on the SCSBC-CTABC-CPABC Compensation Committee. One of these is a parent representing teacher interests. The new CTABC committee (see 2.2c) will provide a more balanced and resourced perspective for the CTABC representative.
4.2 Include Educational Support Staff:
· This group of Educators needs a stronger representation as well. Full funding, and with it a more rigorous qualification standard, requires closer scrutiny.
4.3 Provide for Pre-school Teacher Compensation and Benefits:
· This is a new initiative in many of our schools. Pre-school teachers do not have a “Public School” standard by which to compare themselves. CTABC needs to advocate on behalf of these teachers and support staff.
4.4 Setting a Goal:
· A minimum standard for an SCSBC school may well be to use a community such as Chilliwack to be the base of salaries for the SCSBC. This community then would set its target at no less than 90 percent of the Public School grid. Schools to the west of Chilliwack would incrementally increase salaries upward so that the most expensive communities such as Vancouver CS would be within five percent of the PS Grid.
