Regional Professional Development Committees

Regional Professional Development Day Committees

The Committee
These committees are responsible for planning and organizing a yearly Professional Development Day in each region. The committee consists of three to six members, depending on the need of each region. The regional representative is a member of this committee (where possible) and is responsible for forming a committee in conjunction with the CTABC board.

The regional representative, in consultation with the executive director, is responsible for appointing and convening the committee.

The regional representative should be an active member of the committee (where possible). A staff member from the host school should be on the committee.

The committee meets as the need arises.

Guidelines for Planning Professional Development Days

Date and Location
  • The committee, in consultation with the executive director, chooses a date for the Professional Development Day, which is to be approved by the CTABC board. The committee is responsible for confirming a location (preferably a CTABC school)

Budget and Funds
  • Budget plans for the Professional Development Day should be submitted to the CTABC board in the form of a letter or as a report to the board at a board meeting five weeks prior to the planned date. Any extra monies should be kept in an account to be used the following year.
  • The committee is entitled to use the funds generated to cover costs incurred by committee members that relate directly to the planning of the Professional Development Day.
  • A written report and financial statement should be submitted to the CTA board, detailing the day’s events.

Registration Fees
  • Fees are set by the organizing committee (approved by the board). For 2010-2011 a 75 minute workshop will cost $120.00 or $95.00 for a sixty minute workshop.
  • Full members and associate members pay the same fees.
  • Non-member fees should be double that of members’ fees.
  • Honorary members pay no fees. Meals and travel will be the expense of individual.
  • SCSBC coordinators pay no fees or meal costs for the Pro-D Day.

Plans
  • The committee decides the theme and focus of the day. The keynote workshops, etc. should reflect the theme and focus.
  • Membership could be pooled for input on topics, leaders, etc.
  • The CTABC is available as a resource for workshops leaders, etc.

Workshop Leaders
  • Workshop leaders are paid by the committee on the same day.
  • Workshop leaders who are CTABC members and are from the region pay the registration fees.
  • Out-of-town workshops leaders receive payment for travel costs.
  • Substitutes for workshop leaders are paid by the committee.
  • Workshop leaders should be provided with an introduction and thanks at the beginning and end of the workshop.

Regional reps are to be appointed by the CTABC board. The regional reps must be a CTABC member teaching in a Christian school within their respective region.
