For French Language Teachers and Students:

The recent tragedy in Haiti opens up the opportunity for French language teachers and classes to consider Haiti as a destination place for a cross-cultural exchange. This French speaking island has many Christian Schools that need moral and tangible support. Through World Wide Christian Schools there are some unique opportunities that are emerging.

For the past 5 years, WWCS has partnered with the Consortium for the Reinforcement of Christian Education in Haiti (CRECH). CRECH seeks to "reinforce and deepen cooperation among Haitian Christian Schools" by developing a curriculum that fully integrates the Christian Perspective and providing traning for teachers in how to teach from a Biblical worldview.

In the immediate situation for 2010, there is little that can be done by Canadian French teachers and students; but this is an opportune moment to develop a long term plan where-by CTABC teachers can connect with WWCS and CRECH to establish a meaningful partnership with a school.

There are many Christian Schools in Haiti and most are operated as independent organizations. In the short term most schools are in need of repair and resourced to "provide psychological and spiritual support to traumatized children."  If you are interested in getting involved, call the CTABC office for more information.
