Executive Director and Administrative Secretary

The CTABC is served by an Executive Director and Administrative Secretary.

Sheila Burkinshaw manages the office. Sheila has been serving in this capacity for over 15 years. She oversees the organization's finances and does the required bookkeeping. She also handles all communications. Sheila's job description provides for 12 hours of service weekly. She also assists the SCSBC office staff for about 8 hours per week.

Peter Van Huizen is the Executive Director. His job description is defined by the Mission and Vision of the organization as worked out through the policies put in place by the Board. The position requires him to be available seventy percent of the time. He began his work with CTABC in 2007. He has a Master's of Education from Queen's University in Ontario. His interests are history, philosophy, cultural anthropology, tennis and horticulture.

Peter brings over 40 years of teaching and administrative experience to the job. His most recent work was as Principal of Langley Christian Middle and High School (1995-2004). Since leaving LCMHS he has served at Gondolikhethwa Christian School in Dzanani, Limpopo, South Africa in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

In addition to his job description, Peter enjoys taking on the challenge of doing a chapel or an assembly at a member school. During his first year as Ex. Dir. his presentation on "Celebrating Christian Schooling among the Venda." was very popular with the teachers and students. This year a popular topic was "Who are your Heroes and Heroines?" In this presentation Peter shows who his "heroes and heroines" were in 1960 and challenges students to look to the "heroes and heroines" that truly make a difference.
