Bridging Cultures

Bridging Cultures: Encouraging Partnerships with Christian Schools in Developing Countries.

Bridging Cultures is a program initiated and supported by the CTABC, SCSBC and CPABC for over ten years. It offers a way to support five Christian schools in Honduras which have been looking for assistance in developing quality christian education in a socio-economic environment that made it difficult. School sponsorship projects that focused on educational supplies, tuition assistance and professional development through mentorships were some of the initiatives supported.

In 2006, CTABC and World Wide Christian Schools merged their efforts to focus on "providing professional, Christian educational support to five Christian schools in Honduras through organizing a three day Teacher's Convention and providing examples of pedagogy and curriculum to each school." The benefit to member teachers is that they will "gain a cross-cultural educational experience with Christian teachers from Honduras."

The program operates through the "Walking Together" program of World Wide Christian Schools. This program aims at getting experienced teachers to partner with teachers in Christian Schools in developing countries.

The Ontario and Prairie Associations are both exploring opportunities to be involved in partnering with schools in developing countries where Christian schools are in their formative stages.

The Budget for the Honduran Project works out to about $12,000 per year. CTABC members are encouraged to contribute to this worthwhile project. CTABC budgets $4,000.00 to support this initiative. We are thankful to Worldwide Christian Schools for assisting us with about $4,000.00 in this effort. Each teacher who goes to Honduras pays $500.00 to join in on the experience and their school is expected to raise $300.00 for Educational supplies.

The names of the schools we are partnering with are: Juticalpa, Catacama, Choluteca, El Verbo and John Calvin Christian schools.
